At 14:42, August 6th, 2024 BJT, Long March 6A (LM-6A) Launch Vehicle blasted off from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TSLC), successfully sending the first 18 satellites of Spacesail Constellation into the predetermined orbit.

The launch services for the abovementioned satellites of Spacesail Constellation are prime-contracted by China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).

These 18 satellites constitute the first batch of the first generation of Spacesail satellites. Spacesail Constellation, being constructed by Shanghai Spacesail Technologies Co., Ltd., provide global users with low-latency, high-speed and ultra-reliable satellite broadband internet services.

LM-6A Launch Vehicle is a new generation of Chinese medium launcher with a configuration of liquid core stages and four solid strap-on boosters, developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), also subordinated to CASC. The designed capacity of LM-6A is greater than 4500kg for 700km sun synchronous orbit. This mission is the 7th launch of LM-6A.

CGWIC is a commercial organization authorized by Chinese government to provide commercial launch services, satellite systems and to carry out space technology cooperation. Under the guidance of CASC, CGWIC can provide fast, stable and reliable "one-stop" quality services to both international and domestic customers by introducing the "Long March Express" launch services brand.

Since Long March launch vehicles successfully entered the international market in 1990s, CGWIC has completed 88 commercial launch missions for 73 international satellites and 155 domestic satellites. In addition, CGWIC has conducted 49 rideshare missions sending 28 international payloads and 123 domestic payloads into orbits.

This launch marks the 530th flight of the Long March fleet.
