November 9, 2005 – CGWIC signed a launch services contract with China Satellite Communications Corporation in Beijing for the launch of the ChinaSat-9 satellite on board a LM-3B launch vehicle. The satellite will be launched in the second half of 2007 from the Xicheng Satellite Launch Center, and be placed into orbit at a longitude of 92.2°E.
On November 1, 2005, CGWIC signed a contract with the Venezuelan Ministry of Science and Technology in Caracas, Venezuela for the VeneSat-1 communications satellite program. CGWIC President Wang Haibo and Venezuelan Minister of Science and Technology Marlene Yadira Codova signed the contract on behalf of both parties.
According to the contract, CGWIC will act as the primary contractor and will deliver to the Venezuelan client an in-orbit satellite together with the ground-based control, monitoring and other facilities.
The satellite will be based on a DFH-4 satellite platform, and will be launched on board an LM-3B from the Xicheng Satellite Launch Center. It is expected to be handed over to begin operations with the client in 2008.
The signing ceremony was attended by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
At the China-Singapore Cooperation Forum held in Singapore on May 18, 2005, CGWIC signed a contract with Singapore Airlines Cargo and Singapore Investments Pte. Ltd. a contract governing investment for the establishment of Great Wall Airlines Co. Ltd.
Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo and Singapore Speaker of Parliament Abdullah Tarmugi witnessed the signing.
